Awareness Of Passivhaus Eco Friendly Homes In The Uk Is Snowballing

There is growing awareness of the benefits of building and improving eco-friendly homes among professionals, according to an industry expert.

The Passivhaus low-energy building methodology has "snowballed" in the UK, according to the Green Building Store marketing manager Chayley Collis, with industry professionals "really beginning to pick up on the approach”.

Awareness of the importance of a sustainable living space is also filtering through to consumers, and Ms Collis explained that legislation is on the horizon to enable tenants in rented accommodation to benefit from eco-friendly home improvements.

"Even if it is not your own property, it may be possible to access grants to help insulate lofts and cavity walls in rented accommodation," she added.

Ms Collis recommends seeking advice from the Energy Savings Trust, an independent organisation that works closely with government, energy suppliers and technology developers to provide information on the best deals available.
