Central London Attracts International Property Investment

Central London continues to attract high numbers of international buyers looking for a strong property investment opportunity.

Naomi Heaton, chief executive of London Central Portfolio, said once high-net worth individuals purchase property in their own country, the next place they seek to make an investment is in London.

"That's because people feel very comfortable here; it is a cosmopolitan society, it is one of the most visited destinations in the world, it is the centre geographically, financially and culturally," she explained.

Education also remains a key attraction, according to Ms Heaton, who said as soon as international citizens in London begin sending their children to school in the capital, they often look to buy a house.

A number are also now looking further afield toward Oxford, with Knight Frank recently reporting 40 per cent of its prime stock in the city in 2011.

Once again, education is emerging as a key attraction, thanks to the city's good schools and world-famous university, while a large number of teaching hospitals are also acting as a draw for Asian buyers, head of the Oxford office Damian Gray said.
