Cost Of Developing Eco Friendly Homes Is Falling All The Time

Market forces are reducing the cost of building new eco-friendly homes, Sustain Worldwide has said, leading to a lower cost of ownership for buyers. New figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government show that it cost an additional £1,128 to build a house to level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes last year, compared with £4,458 in 2008. Gordon Miller, co-founder of Sustain Worldwide, said competition among manufacturers and suppliers of low carbon technologies, such as solar photovoltaics, is constantly driving down the cost of building eco-friendly homes. Another factor is housebuilders' increasing expertise in how to build low carbon homes, delivering cost savings and reducing expensive research and development overheads.
