Councils Can Provide Assistance With Home Insulation
Many homeowners are unaware of the convenience and low costs involved with insulating their property, according to the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC).
As well as improving the UK's stock of eco-friendly homes, insulation can improve a property investment by making it more attractive to buyers in the future.
Andrew Leech, director at the NHIC, said there is help available from local authorities in the form of grants and assistance in clearing the loft so the work can begin.
"Have a cursory look in the roof to see what needs to be moved and if you can't move it yourself, then get some assistance on moving the materials up there," he said.
"It is a question of getting going and making the improvements."
This week, the British Property Federation announced that it supported a joint statement calling on the government to use VAT to incentivise takeup of the Green Deal.
The statement, which recommends levying VAT at five per cent for all Green Deal measures, is backed by 26 organisations.
