FURTHER GOVERNMENT FUNDING TO BOOST LEICESTER HOUSING MARKET
Homebuyer activity in Leicester will be boosted by further funding from the Government’s New Deal for Communities (NDCs) programme, according to email4property.co.uk, the UK’s largest online network of estate agents.
Braunstone in Leicester makes up one of the 39 locations benefiting from the Government’s scheme, which aims to stimulate educational achievement, tackle crime and boost job opportunities in England’s most deprived communities. With considerable investment already having taken place, the further funding will sustain ongoing activity, while ensuring the progression of any future plans.
Steve Lees, Head of Marketing at email4property.co.uk, comments: “The Government’s NDC programme has already made significant inroads towards improving the quality of life for residents in the Braunstone area and this latest guarantee is likely to encourage further buyers to the area, while keeping those residents already established within the community.”
Martin Williams of Estate Agent Move & Save, adds: “The considerable funding Braunstone has received over the last decade has made it a desirable place to live. The area is well served with good local shops and schools, making it an ideal family destination. Its convenient location, not just to Leicester City but the M1, and the A46, along with its great selection of new and traditional properties, many in a non-estate position, makes it a popular choice with a whole range of today’s buyers.”
Government first launched the New Deal for Communities (NDCs) programme in 1999. Since its launch, the programme has seen burglary fall on average 30% and GCSE results improve by over 10% across the chosen locations. Last week, Government confirmed 2009-2010 allocations for the 39 locations, with the pledge of a further £186 million to be invested.
