The Green Deal holds the potential for wide-scale adoption across the UK if it is administered well, according to Sustain Worldwide.
Due for launch in October 2012, the government's Green Deal should lead to a greater number of eco-friendly homes in the country, by offering owners the chance to make energy-efficient improvements without the upfront cost.
Homeowners can effectively pay the cost of the improvements back as they save money on their energy bills. According to figures from the Energy Saving Trust, insulating cavity walls could save people as much as £135 per year on heating bills.
Gordon Miller, co-founder and sustainability and communications director of Sustain Worldwide, said the flagship scheme is intended to "revolutionise the energy efficiency of properties" and holds great potential.
"There is still much detail to be announced as to how the Green Deal will operate in practice. However, if it is administered well and a community rather than an individual house approach is encouraged it has the potential for wide scale adoption across Britain," he added.
