A proposed legal requirement for landlords to make their rental properties greener may result in an increased number of eco-friendly homes in the UK.
Under the proposed energy bill, landlords will be legally obliged to create green homes from 2016 onwards, ensuring affordable homes to rent meet a certain level of energy efficiency.
This news provides a welcome boost if you’re looking to rent a property for the long-term. On average homes could save around £250 a year* and reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by insulating, improving their heating systems and being more energy efficient.
