Part Exchange Grows In Popularity

Part exchange is proving particularly attractive for buyers looking to move up the property ladder this year, it has been claimed.

Consultancy Stubbings Property Marketing said house builders are working extremely hard to attract buyers, with part exchange attracting attention from those looking to move to their second or third home.

The Viva Stanwell development from A2Dominion New Homes is seeing particular success from the scheme, with four of the past five sales completed being part exchanges, according to director Helen Todd.

Ms Todd said looking at the year ahead "having the right home buyer incentives is going to be key".

"With so many second or third time movers feeling a little tentative, deterred also by the costs and hassles of selling their existing property, part exchange has proved a real life line," she added.

Conditions are improving, however, with home affordability now at its best since 1997, according to Halifax figures.

Low house prices and reduced interest rates mean more of the market is now accessible, the research claimed.
