RAMSGATE TIPPED AS 2010 HOTSPOT
Ramsgate has been tipped as one of two UK seaside resorts to become a sought-after hotspot for 2010, as it benefits from regeneration investment and improved infrastructure and transport links, says email4property.co.uk, the UK’s largest online network of estate agents.
Prices in the town have become much more affordable over the last couple of years, with the average property price dropping by 14% from £169,855 in 2007 to £146,377 in 2009. This has opened Ramsgate up to a whole new section of the market, with young families and first time buyers in a position to snap up the good value period properties lining the town's streets and crescents.
In addition, Ramsgate now has a new high speed train service to London St Pancras station, offering commuting residents a journey time of only 81 minutes. ‘The Bonanza Express’, a new super fast ferry route to France will be launched in the New Year, making Ramsgate the location of the fastest crossing available to France with a journey time of only 75 minutes.
Excellent schools, both primary and secondary, highlight Ramsgate’s desirability as an ideal place for families to set up a home. The town also has a strong sense of heritage and the harbour and award winning beach are particular tourist attractions, boosting its appeal to holiday home buyers looking for a more affordable location than Brighton and Cornwall.
Steve Lees, Head of Marketing for email4property.co.uk, comments: “Ramsgate has become much more affordable over the last couple of years, which, along with new high profile transport links, is attracting new residents to the town, putting it in a great position to benefit from price rises in 2010 and beyond." Graham Kinnear, Director of award-winning local estate agency Milton Ashbury, comments: “Improved transport links are having a hugely positive impact on the housing market in Kent generally, but particularly in Ramsgate. The area has always been attractive for its heritage as one of the Cinque Ports, its coastal scenery and its good schools, and is now more affordable than a year or two ago. All the signs suggest a prosperous future for the town."
The second seaside town tipped as a 2010 hotspot is Plymouth. For a comprehensive list of agents in the towns mentioned above visit: www.email4property.co.uk
