House hunters hoping to move to their ideal home in the countryside may find running costs cheaper as a result of a new government scheme.
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will help to reduce fuel bills for rural property owners, according to Knight Frank.
This is good news for buyers hoping to leave the hustle and bustle of the city for a more peaceful life in the countryside.
Launched in March, the incentive will pay homeowners an index-linked quarterly payment for each unit of heat energy produced from renewable technology.
Payments are due to begin later this year, helping beautiful homes in the countryside to become more eco-friendly and budget friendly at the same time.
According to David Parry-Jones, a green-energy specialist at Knight Frank, the scheme could cut carbon emissions by as much as 44 million tonnes.
Homeowners can sign up the RHI from October this year, opting for biomass boilers, ground source heat or solar thermal systems.
The payments will undoubtedly come in handy for rural homeowners during the winter months and could also make countryside living more affordable for house hunters across the UK.
