Steven Lees, Head of Marketing for email4property.co.uk, responds to the HSBC Property Millionaires report:
“The age of the property millionaire really took off in the mid-naughties, when many of the traditionally industrial cities began to benefit from wide scale regeneration schemes. As a result, the desirability of major locations such as Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle has increased dramatically over the past decade. This, along with the last nationwide house price boom, resulted in many areas around the country gaining their own district or postcode that commands high-end asking prices - not just in city centres but also extending to suburbia. In addition to the well established prime locations, such as central London and Poole on the south coast, this has worked to boost the overall number of million pound home sales across the country.”
